I woke up this morning and started the RV. Immediately, a glaring red “charging” light came on and didn’t go off. The end result was a new alternator. I can’t complain too much since the RV hasn’t had too many repairs - but this summer it seems to be quickly making up for lost time!
A bonus was that while the alternator was being replaced there was a laundromat next door. Also, I had a nice, long, hot shower this afternoon. So, I’m pretty “clean” at the moment - as well as having my purse “cleaned” out.
Tonight I’m at Kaffe 101 where they have Friday night worship with a band. The coffee house is packed, and some teens drove from as far away as Brookings (about 100 miles) to be here. I’m posting some pictures of the event on the photo album page.

Cali and I took a two hour walk along the beach in Bandon. There were three rather large unfriendly dogs we encountered during the middle of our walk. One of the dogs snarled and charged Cali, so I took a stick and whomped it on the nose. The owner came over and apologized, but she should have had better control of three dogs.
I didn’t make it to the laundry, but had a yummy cheeseburger and fries at Fraser’s restaurant in Bandon. The cheeseburger was on a toasted egg bun and really good.
Ah summer, the time to indulge in food and fun!

The days are getting lazier and lazier. Today I’m planning to drive down the coast to Bandon and explore the town. It’s a sunny day, but a little cool.
The days are getting lazier and lazier. Today I’m planning to drive down the coast to Bandon and explore the town. It’s a sunny day, but a little cool. Yesterday, Cali and I took a long walk along the beach. I wish she were a little more tolerant of other dogs. I hope it’s the terrier in her. She’s not mean, just excitable. She still has a penchant for chasing birds. She saw one on the beach and I was afraid she would follow it into the ocean. When she was a puppy, she jumped into a man-made lake on a golf course to chase a duck. The duck kept swimming farther and farther out, and Cali just followed it. My sister-in-law had to send in her lab Zoie to fetch her.
Later this afternoon, I’m afraid it’s time to think about doing the laundry.

Today was a very lazy day as I had nothing really on “my agenda.” I had lunch at Fred Meyer. You can’t beat a made to order half sandwich (which is more like a whole), a bowl of soup, and a soft drink for $3.99.
Tomorrow is the Farmer’s Market and I hope to find some fresh berries. I suppose I need to make a visit to the laundromat. I also might find out how far “the big city” is to make a run for books. My favorite evening “ritual” is to sip a glass of wine and read.
Cali has been behaving pretty well - except for the day that I left some peppermint candy balls (the soft kind) in the RV in a bag. Who would think that she would eat a WHOLE bag of peppermint candy. However, that DOES remind me of the Christmas dinner I hosted for the women I work with a few years ago. We were all talking in the kitchen and Cali “licked clean” the three small bowls of fiery dips and salsa sitting on the coffee table. I guess she IS a New Mexican!

Poor Cali - she puts up with a “mom” who loves to do “goofy” things to her. The hardest part is getting her to stay still and to keep her tongue in her mouth. As you can see, the tongue part isn’t easy to do!
The weather has been wonderful - sunny and warm. The only problem is the wind that picks up in the afternoon. It reminds me of New Mexico. Yesterday I read the Portland Sunday paper and most of a novel entitled “The Secret Life of Bees.” I usually give away books after I’ve read them, but this book was an unusual treat.
Speaking of treats, the coffee shop manager is ordering treats from a vendor and talking about carrot cake, cheesecake, etc…
I’m off to do a little thrift store exploring and then take a drive over near the state parks and walk with Cali along the beach. I can’t believe how beautiful the weather has been.
I’ve been using the WiFi at this wonderful coffee shop called Kaffe 101. I usually have a bagel with cream cheese and coffee while using the Internet. It’s become a daily habit here in Coos Bay.
