Merry Christmas!
This Christmas I drove to Yuma, Arizona to spend the Christmas holidays with a group of single RV’ers. (WIN) I didn’t know quite what to expect, and it was fortunate I didn’t have any expectations! I drove all day on Friday, December 22nd to Yuma and arrived at approximately 8:00 p.m. Since I wasn’t quite sure where the gathering was, I “dry camped” at the Paradise Casino. The next morning I found the group on Highway 95 north on the way to Quartzsite, Arizona. There was a huge space off the highway alongside of a VFW.
On Christmas Eve, the group gathered for “finger food” snacks at 6:00 p.m. around the campfire(s) (although the party seemed to have started at approximately 2:00 p.m. with holiday visits to RV’s for drinks and snacks.) A special covered area (called the WIN-WAM) had been set up with lights and tables for the food.
Carols were sung, stories were told, and a “special visit” from one of the campers included his bagpipes! The fires were warm, the stars were out, and it was a beautiful Christmas Eve in the desert.
