Manic Monday

Published by Desert Diva under Memes

Manic Monday is hosted by Fleur de Lisa

What new course would you like to see added to the nation’s school curriculum?

  • I have to agree with Fleur de Lisa - Basic Life Skills. It’s amazing the simple things that students don’t know…

Where is your favorite place to sit when at home?

  • It’s usually in front of my computer screen…

Do you buy anything in bulk? If so, what?

  • I don’t really buy in bulk - there’s just me (and Cali). However, when I find something I like, (Keen shoes) I’ll get several!

He’s a Pirate!

Last night Cali and I snuggled up on the sofa (with popcorn and soda) and watched “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Some time ago, I had bought the DVD at a video store that was closing in our local mall. (and been sitting in the wrapper on my video shelf collecting dust)

When the movie first came out, the director of Special Education had told me she had seen it. When I asked her if she liked it, her response was: “Johnny Depp - oh baby, oh baby, oh baby!”

The movie was entertaining enough, (the guy gets the girl and the pirate gets the ship) but I really loved the music score by Klaus Badelt. When the credits are rolled at the end of the film, you hear this amazing composition that conjures up images of tall ships on the high seas…

Saturday Scavenger Photo Hunt - “Rare”

Theme: Rare | View Blogroll | Next Week: Childhood

Love is a Rose...
Love is a rose but you’d better not pick it,
It only grows when it’s on the vine.
A handful of thorns and you’ll know you’ve missed it,
You lose your love when you say the word “mine”.

Land of Enchantment…

Late Afternoon Shadows...

Sometimes, I don’t appreciate the beauty in my everyday life because it becomes part of the “ordinary” and I see it everyday. This scene is withing walking distance of my townhome, and I see these mountains when I walk Cali. There’s an undeveloped span of desert there where I let her “off the leash” to run.

Yesterday I stopped by Staples and their “camera person” was able to get my filter off my lens. I had it on slightly off skew. I also had to pick up a backorder for some trackball mice. The SPED department has several thousand dollars to spend before the end of the fiscal year. The only problem is that the finance department has established a cut off date for out-of-town orders and all of the money has to be spend locally. I’ve been filling out purchase orders like a madwoman!

Before stopping by Staples, I took some photos in an empty lot nearby. Note to self: Don’t touch unknown plants to arrange a photo shot without gloves - especially cacti. Later, I was sitting at my computer and looked and my left hand was itching - and covered with a “weepy” rash. I used a Benadryl “Itch Relief Stick” and it’s fine this morning. There was also a lot of weeds and trash in the lot (and the wind was blowing the dust a little) so I ended up using my inhaler too.

I was exhausted from getting up at 5:00 a.m. yesterday and had a busy day at work. There’s a school about twenty-five miles away on White Sand Missile Range that I had a meeting. Every time I go I have to register and show my school I.D., my driver’s license, and my car insurance. So far, I haven’t had to have my car searched but some of my co-workers have at times.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend!
