Day to Day Life on the Road…

Through the Trees...

Life on the road is not always “even” or glamorous. Most of the time, people are helpful and kind. However, there are times when some people show their true colors. I spent two hot days in Las Vegas and couldn’t wait to leave.
The other day when I was doing my laundry I got into a conversation with an older oriental woman who was the attendant. Older people always seem to ask the same question – “Where is your husband?” When she found I was traveling alone with my dog, she said: “You are one brave woman.” Not yet – but I’m learning to be…

Sorry to hear you’ve run into a few jerks lately. This sort of thing would wear on me too much and I think I would get tired of traveling. I think that comes from too many years of moving and moving and moving.

Isn’t it silly that everyone asks where your husband is? Why, in this day and age, should anyone assume that you need one? You can travel alone just fine and dandy!

Last year we were taking photos of the physicians at the hospital where I work to put them on our website. The photographer, Steve, was a really nice guy. One of the docs was a total jerk who told the Steve to not try to make him smile because he didn’t smile! So Steve just took the frowning picture and the doc left. I was really annoyed and Steve said, “Don’t let it bother you. The good news is that when you wake up in the morning, you’re not HIM!” I always think of that when I run into these personality-challenged people.
