Little Disagreements…

Tonight I had dinner with a friend of mine who I’m also going on a cruise with in less than a month. We had a really great filet mignon, and then walked across the parking lot to Bed, Bath, & Beyond. M. had some items to return for a store credit, and we both had a “magic” $5.00 off coupon for spending more than $15.00 to use.

We both decided to buy a Yankee candle (Christmas Wreath) that was already 25% off. When we applied our coupon, the total would have been $12.24 each. There was a sign that said if you bought $30.00 worth of candles, you would receive a free smaller Yankee candle. The sales associate mentioned that one of us should buy the candles, pay the other, and get the “freebie.”

At the register, M. balked and said it would “mess up” her return, we couldn’t use both coupons, (even though the sales associate assured us we could) and who would get the free candle? I admit I wanted it to give as a little gift to one of the secretaries in my office. However, the important issue was that one of us received it. M. refused.

I thrive on “logic,” and this seemed so “illogical” to me. This took place a few minutes after M. couldn’t find her keys after leaving the restaurant and found them after I asked if she looked in the front pocket of her purse. They were there, and I promptly told (albeit in jest) f**k you. mmkay…

At work I have to deal with stressful situations and the last thing I needed was more “drama” on a Friday night after a long week. I walked out of the store and drove home.

It’s official - I’ve posted to my weblog everyday during November. I can say that is was a good exercise in discipline to help me pay attention to my “writing duties” on a daily basis.

Since I’ve never ever participated - I think today might be a good day to start “Friday Fill-Ins,” so here goes!

Friday Fill-Ins is hosted by Janet

  1. When my blog is broken, it drives me crazy until I can figure out the problem.
  2. I saw the most amazing fiber-optic Christmas bear figure this morning!
  3. Into the Wild is the new movie I’m most looking forward to seeing.
  4. Work: Necessary and stressful.
  5. Of all the new tv shows, I enjoy Samantha Who? the most.
  6. If only I were independently wealthy.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a steak dinner, tomorrow my plans include putting up my Christmas decorations and Sunday, I want to go to the “Noche de Luminarias” at NMSU and take photographs!

I Really Don’t Think So…

OK, it’s Fleur-de Lisa’s fault - she got me going on this site to take tests! Sorry, edited to “protect the innocent” - me!

The Priss

Deliberate Brutal Love Dreamer (DBLD)

Mature. Responsible. Aristocratic. Excuse me. The Priss.

Prisses are the smartest of all female types. You’re highly perceptive, and confident in your judgments. You’d take brutal honesty over superficiality any time–your friends always know where they stand with you. You’re completely unfake. Don’t tell me that’s not a word. You’re also excellent at redirecting internal negative energy.

These facts indicate people are often intimidated by you. They also fall for you, hard. You have a distant, composed allure that many find irresistible. If only more of them lived up to your standards.

You were probably the last among your friends to have sex. And the first to pretend that you’re pregnant. LOL. Though you’re inclined to use sex as weapon, at least it’s not as one of mass destruction. You’re choosier than most about your partners. A supportive relationship is what you’re really after. Whether you know it or not, you need something steady & long-term. And soothing.

HAL_Oosterdam

One month from today I’ll be boarding the Oosterdam in San Diego with my friend Mavis for a cruise on the Mexican Riviera. We’re waiting for our cabin assignment since we booked a guarantee. (Maybe the “upgrade fairy” will be good to us.) It’s official, I’m not going shopping to look for any more “cruise clothes” - I have plenty. Needless to say, I can’t wait!

No Nutcracker?

It seems that someone (or a group of someones) wanted to put a damper on the holiday decoration of a Nutcracker at Glenn Cutter Jewelers in Las Cruces. Apparently on Thanksgiving weekend, the ten foot tall, three hundred pound Nutcracker was reported missing.

Earlier in the week the following was reported:

Police report that a woman had come into the store on November 21st, and expressed concerns that the Nutcracker was a military figure. She asked to speak to the store manager and told him that it was inappropriate to have a soldier on his sign with the Iraq war ongoing.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m very sympathetic to the war and proud of our soldiers.  However, a Nutcracker is “quite a stretch” don’t ‘cha think?  I heard on the radio the other day where an organization was selling pins that said:  “You can tell me Merry Christmas!”  Yikes!  Some people just need to “get a life” - preferably somewhere else…
