No Nutcracker?

It seems that someone (or a group of someones) wanted to put a damper on the holiday decoration of a Nutcracker at Glenn Cutter Jewelers in Las Cruces. Apparently on Thanksgiving weekend, the ten foot tall, three hundred pound Nutcracker was reported missing.
Earlier in the week the following was reported:
Police report that a woman had come into the store on November 21st, and expressed concerns that the Nutcracker was a military figure. She asked to speak to the store manager and told him that it was inappropriate to have a soldier on his sign with the Iraq war ongoing.
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m very sympathetic to the war and proud of our soldiers. However, a Nutcracker is “quite a stretch” don’t ‘cha think? I heard on the radio the other day where an organization was selling pins that said: “You can tell me Merry Christmas!” Yikes! Some people just need to “get a life” – preferably somewhere else…

I guess she shouldn’t come around here…it’s pretty much soldier-central with all the soldiers returning from 15 months deployment and the others leaving.
i really try not to let statements like that get to me, but sometime they do!
Love the ‘soldier’ nutcracker!
What’s wrong with a nutcracker?
I can understand and have strong feelings against the war on Iraq…people feel they have no control and so resort to symbolic jestures like removing a nutcracker figurine…they did gain some attention but their energy likely could have been used in a more productive way…
I’m curious how they moved it without anyone noticing!
Anyway, I agree, I think this woman needs a little bit more holiday cheer and less intolerance.
