Forgotten…
“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.†~ Mother Theresa
On my cruise to the Mexican Riviera I was walking near the dock and found an old cemetery in Mazatlán. Instead of taking an excursion, I decided to take my camera and explore. Finding this old, forgotten cemetery; stirred emotions from the apparent decay, destruction, and disarray of lives spent and eventually forgotten. I love old cemeteries. There’s such a sense of peace, history, wondering about the people there and the lives they lived.
Wow, these are beautiful shots. I’m glad you had the courage to go off on your own. Those tours are vastly overrated.
These are lovely! That kind of quiet meditation is a wonderful way to spend the day. I’m glad you were able to do it.
I developed a fascination with the vibes at old cemeteries when I was in my teens…my friend’s Daddy passed away and we would go hang out in the cemetery at his grave site….the last one Ray and I visited was a French cemetery in Maine….and then there is the one in Key West where all graves are above ground….I think that is because the water table is so close to the surface…love the painting quality of the photos….
So glad you listened to your heart and captured these images that afternoon.
I remember the spring before Katrina hit New Orleans we were there for a vacy and we took a bus to the old cemetaries. We spent a few hours walking and taking photos, and yes the history of these cemetaries can be so intriguing as you read the names, dates, etc and you wonder who those people were and they looked in their time. Your photos on Flickr were very nice.
