Remembering Sophie Sugarloaf
Many of you recall Ray and Terrie, some very good friends I had the opportunity to meet two summers ago when they were camphosting in Oregon. The package included their “pups” as Terrie refers to them – Hannah (on the bench) and Sophie (in the front). In a state park along the Oregon coast, we tried to pose for a formal photo but Hannah had other ideas!
Sophie fell ill very quickly, and during surgery today Ray and Terrie made the difficult decision to put her down. If there is such a thing, Terrie could be tagged “the dog whisperer.” I’ve never seen such a devoted “mom” to her two beloved pups.
Tonight, I’m asking that you give your pet an “extra hug,” and that you visit Ray and Terrie’s weblog and offer them some words of support. I know Terrie is devastated from the loss of her beloved “Sophie Sugarloaf.” I don’t know what happens to the souls of our pets when they leave the earth. I only hope that the soul of Sophie Sugarloaf rests in peace.

Oh, bless their hearts. It has to be so heartbreaking. I know how I feel about my Gatsby. Pets are special angels sent to us.
thanks so much for such a sweet tribute to our Sophie….I am happy she and Cali and Hannah had time to play together in Oregon….the house seems so empty this morning….you are a special friend and we appreciate the fact that you are taking an active role in helping us adjust to this loss….I am certainly ready to hit the road again to Oregon, Washington or Maine or ……..love you much…..
People without pets can never understand how attached we get to them and what a hole is left in our lives when they die. My thoughts go to your friends. Since I currently live in a pet-less household, I’ll give my husband a little rub behind the ears.
I can’t imagine how they must be feeling…
hey, diva….looked at this again this morning….thanks again….but I will have to send you a better photo of us all….this one does look like we just picked Hannah up from a stay at the asylum and she really was not ready for release…..lots of love today….the flowers are comforting and beautiful….thanks for all your support….
Your pets always need extra hugs! I promise to hug all three of our dogs tonight and pet the horses too for good measure.
