Inside the Reader’s Studio

James Lipton from Inside the Writers Studio interviewed Rick Rantamaki on Sunday, February 17, 2008. These are some of the interview questions from an abridged version of the transcript in “meme” format.

I was tagged by Yvonne of Socrates’ Book Reviews to give my “point of view” – and I do have one!

What is your favorite word?

  • I suppose I’ve been influenced by the cast of Grey’s Anatomy – currently it happens to be “seriously.”

What is your least favorite word?

  • “Hate” – without a doubt. It’s caustic, and the emotional effects are long lasting.

What turns you on (creatively, spiritually or emotionally)?

  • Photography – it’s calming, creative, “zen-like” – I could go on and on…

What turns you off (creatively, spiritually or emotionally)?

  • Apathy – it doesn’t leave much room for any other feelings, does it?

What sound or noise do you love?

  • The cooing of babies, the sound of ocean waves, the soft “plink” of rain on the roof of my RV when I’m sleeping, the howl of coyotes on a desert night, there are too many to list…

What sound or noise do you hate?

  • Voices raised in violent anger.

What’s your favorite curse word?

  • The F-Bomb – please don’t tell my parents…

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

  • I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a photojournalist.

What profession would you not like to do?

  • Anything that would confine me to an office cubicle all day.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

  • See where all of that angst and doubting got you? Come here and give your heavenly father a big hug!

I’m supposed to tag three people. However, I hate to tag people (I don’t mind being tagged though). So, if you would like to “play along” and the Spirit moves you – have a go!

Spread the Love!

Not sure what my favorite word is, but my least favorites ae scenario and paridigm. Comes from being in the business world for too long.

As for photojournalism, you are so talented with photography – maybe that can be your “second” career after retirement! You know, our generation doesn’t actually retire, many of us start new and different careers. You would be so excellent at it!!

Fave word: ha ha ha ha
    Least fave word: “no”
    Turns me on: motivated people
Noise I love: sound of the waves crashing at the beach
    Noise I hate: crunching foil
    Fave curse word: damn
Other profession: work as a funeral home director
Profession I dont want to do: building highways
What I want to hear God say: “wasn’t that bad, huh?”

  3. Luz UNITED STATES says:

Ok, I did it! See my blog. For other comments…that’s funny about the crunching of foil and I agree with Sandi about you becoming a photographer-professionally.

  4. Lisa UNITED STATES says:

I’m a big fan of ‘seriously!’ too. :)

  5. Apathy is a total turn off. I so dislike it when people go all wishy washy and can’t make a decision. Ranks right up there with the word hate too, what an awful word to hear used about anything. Although I’m still feeling pretty negative after dealing with scheduling again. I don’t think the coffee was enough…Can I also include I don’t like passive aggressive and condescending people too?
