The Truth is Out There…
Let me know when you find the URL – Mulder and Scully might be interested too!
Seriously, I’ve had a lot of weblog traffic lately – mostly from Pennsylvania. It’s due to a little incident that recently came to light in our fair city of Las Cruces, New Mexico. It seems that an orthopedic surgeon and his wife were arrested and charged with seven counts of third degree child abuse. The family had moved recently from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. I have nothing to say about those allegations – that’s for the legal system to sort out.
I did “cut and paste” in two articles that appeared in the online edition of the Las Cruces Sun-News. If you’re wondering why I would do that, it’s because I broke my right (dominant) wrist in April of this year and the orthopedic surgeon who has been in the news lately was the doctor that did the surgery on my wrist.
I was in pain and obviously had to make a quick decision. I choose a particular orthopedic surgery practice because it came highly recommended. I did not choose this particular surgeon – I was “assigned” to him. I broke my wrist on Sunday, saw the orthopedic surgeon on Monday, and had surgery on Tuesday. In retrospect, I probably couldn’t have “done my homework” any more thoroughly since his alleged “inclinations” were not brought to the surface until recently.
My wrist is currently malformed and painful. I have limited functionality, range-of-motion, and strength. Needless to say, this had taken an enormous toll upon me both emotionally and physically. My life seems to grow “smaller and smaller” and sometimes I still cry. At this point, I just want my “life” back – or at least some semblance of what it used to be.
It’s no secret that I’ve now had two consultations with orthopedic hand surgery specialists. I will choose one of them to do an osteotomy and plate fixation surgery. This is difficult for me since I have no level of trust for orthopedic physicians at the moment. This did not and should not have been the outcome.
It’s an understatement to say that I am not pleased with the orthopedic surgeon who first attended to my wrist. In addition, I am horrified at the allegations involving his children. It leaves me feeling even more angry, distrustful, and victimized. So, there isn’t any more for you to read about the “truth” regarding the alleged child abuse, other than the original posting (with a link crediting the source).
I do feel I need to say that if you’re here for “mischief,” don’t even try to go there. I have protections built into my weblog and “little eyes” that “see what you did and know who you are.” Plainly speaking, when you visit I have a total tracking of your IP address, where you came from, where you entered, where you exited, how long you stayed on each page, etc… However, if you’re here to behave yourself, have a look around (I’m a pretty good amateur photographer) and leave a nice comment if the Spirit moves you. The first time you post a comment it is moderated, so if you have mean things to say – don’t. The reason being is that I’ll remove the comment, and block your ISP. However, more importantly I’ve been through an ordeal and you have no idea what I’ve endured so far. However, if you want a better idea you can click on my Flickr widget in the sidebar and be take to my Flickr account online. There ARE some painful looking photos of my wrist there…
That’s about the size of it. As for the “orthopedic surgeon” in the news, he’s not on my “favorite person” list at the moment. OK, who am I kidding, he’s kicked off that list for eternity. Whatever kind of person he was in the past, the challenges he has faced, etc… are of no real concern to me. There are some sad aspects that have been in the news lately about his past, his children, etc… I don’t know what is true and what isn’t. Like I said earlier, if you find out – send me the URL…

The only mischief I am here for is the occasional smart alec remark, possibly, about something or other. It’s good you are keeping a close eye on things. I played those nine holes of golf today. Can’t say the angels smiled on me, but they didn’t frown either. I’d say they were indifferent. I did, however, because of the shape of a green get off a pretty good kidney joke! It made my brother-in-law laugh and he’s going through a major change in his life, too, that is serious and we had some good jokes about that, too. Maybe this is how guys deal. I don’t know; it did me good, though, to be out in the sunshine, smelling cut grass, knocking golf balls around, and having some good laughs at the expense of my health and his.
Take care
**sigh**
sorry to hear about the pain you’re in.
i used to live in roswell and also in clovis. i miss new mexico — all that open LAND… as far as the eye can see.
take care,
neena
It’s sad and just plain wrong when people go through what you’re going through due to an incompetent physician. However, you had no way of knowing up front. The same thing happened to my dad when he had major back surgery at the age of 82 and was never the same again. But, the physician sold him a bill of goods. My OB when I had my kids was later arrested (and lost his license) because of sexual abuse of his patients! I was lucky and didn’t have any issues with him, but it left me feeling very creepy when I found out.
Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery and recovery.
just had to stop in and say “hey there”….I do hope things are moving in the right direction!
I feel bad with what you went through, but you are a brave person, no matter if you feel pain and you worry, it is understandable.
he’ll get his!
I’d like to believe in karma and what goes around comes around three fold. Or maybe that’s a tad more on the wiccan side.
You’ll move on and he’ll get his just desserts.
