Shouldn’t It Already Be Friday?
Somewhere in the world, isn’t it already Friday? It feels like it needs to be the weekend. Lately, it’s been difficult to survive in the workplace. It’s a combination of budget cuts, reduced staff, and _____. Sorry to be cryptic, but there are only so many things you can say about the workplace and not fear retribution from being “dooced.” I will say that please don’t ask my opinion about policy and procedure, request me to present it in a manual, and then do “something else.”
I attended my first physical therapy session on Monday - at least this office seems to be qualified. I was beginning to wake up in the middle of the night in pain. During the initial evaluation the P.T. said that my neck muscles were extremely tight, and asked if I was “stressed.” No comment. Anyway, I’m going twice a week and doing strengthening exercises.
The opening reception for the photography show is this weekend. Nice person that I am ‘-), I volunteered to do a slide show presentation featuring additional work from the artists. It’s actually quite nice if I don’t say so myself. I’ve made two trips to El Paso to the venue in as many days.
Speaking of the photography show, I was asked to remove the promotional cards from my office at work. I can’t take that “request” as anything but “personal,” since the LCPS technical writer put a very nice News Release on the district website for everyone to see. It’s best not to argue and just move on…
I’m looking forward to a little trip to Borrego Springs with the RV group over Thanksgiving to do a little dancing, drink some wine, play cards, sit by the campfire, and take some photographs. I can’t “change the world.” However, I can work to change my perception of how I see (and react) to day-to-day challenges…

Now, see how you changed your attitude just in this post? You did it all by looking at the good (and a trip to Borrego Springs certainly sounds good!). Would you like to join me on Fridays in posting “Only The Good?” That’s my one day of the week to NOT be snarky and try to change my perceptions of the world around me.
I LOVE your photos. You are darned good.
Have fun at the show this weekend. And your Thanksgiving trip sounds very relaxing and nice.
Well, I have to agree about pulling the promotional cards, does sound little biased…but oh well. The slide show sounds good. I so wish I could come and see it.
And I totally agree that today really needs to be Friday. And I totally agree the budget cuts are scary. We’re having them here too, in case you didn’t see yet our oh so wordly president just initiated a hiring freeze. How exciting. So much for my career ladder change in the spring…
Glad the therapy went ok!
Good luck with the show, that’s really exciting. Sounds like a great trip you have planned. I’ve been stuck at home too long myself, I need to squeeze in a road trip in the not-to-distance future myself!
I don’t see why in the world she’d pull the promotional cards. That’s just silly.
I hope the PT goes well next week. At least it will get things going in the right direction.
I’m so excited for you about the show this weekend!
workplace has me “crazy” also. i just posted it.
I hope the photography show goes well…..I hope you can post some photos of the exhibits…..Thanksgiving sounds great……glad you are getting the upper hand in PT…..
