Happy Easter!

It seems almost like Christmas was yesterday and now it’s Easter.  I spent my day quietly, since I’m still recovering from my wrist surgery last Wednesday.  There was no ham dinner, Easter basket, or chocolate bunnies at  Casa de Desert Diva.

However, there’s the undercurrent of spring’s new life bubbling up from around and within.  The joy of Easter seems to have gone by the wayside for a number of years.  I do remember standing in a full church many years ago and truly beliving in the resurrection.  I often wonder what happened to that joyous faith-filled moment.  The obvious answer is “life.”  The life that one lives is sometimes devoid of personal attention.  We often forget (or ignore) the wellsprings that feed our souls, and one day wake up feeling – well, empty.

I believe now because I “choose” to believe.  However, I’m slowly becoming more attentive to my spiritual life and want to move toward a day where my “believing” will become second nature.

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting-
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Nice words by Mary Oliver and I can relate to your last paragraph and like you at times feel totally lost in my quest but then nature reminds me of how close I may be.
