Manic Monday
is hosted by the beautiful Fleur-de-Lisa
What’s the best summer job you ever had?
- Well, it wasn’t actually a job because I didn’t get paid. I volunteered to work at a youth hostel in Truro, Massachusetts one summer. I only had to work there twelve hours a week and got a room gratis. I worked part-time “up the road” at an organic fruit and vegetable summer market and did some baby sitting. One of my “clients” was Anne Tyler. It was one of the most relaxing summers I’ve ever spent…
Tell me about the worst date you ever went on.
- How much space do I have?Â
It was probably a double date that I went on with my sister because she was interested in someone that “had a friend.” Ugh…
Do you think the age for a driver’s license should be raised (currently 16 here in the U.S.)?
- No, I think sixteen is fine – but I like the “old days” where you took a class in high school and did driver’s training with school staff. I still have fond memories of driver’s training with the radio turned up to the Four Top’s singing “I Can’t Help Myself” (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch). Yes, that was a L-O-N-G time ago…

One of “those” dates!
Wow, Anne Tyler? That really must have been a great summer job- such the experience.
I wished they still offered driver’s ed at school. It’s ridiculous that they don’t.
The Four Tops….that was only a couple of months ago…wasn’t it….
Best summer job: NONE…if I had to work my summer, then I was miserable!!
Worst Date: In high school I went out with a boy b/c I just couldn’t say no. He had a total of 3 teeth.
Driver’s License Age; I’m fine with 16, but I just hate the over inflated insurance that has to accompany it!!
LOL. #2… been there, done that. Same ‘ugh’. (only that we were two brothers dating two sisters, and the other couple got eventually married!)
That sounds like an awesome summer job!
