Where I Want to Be…

Paddling...

Paddling down a gentle river is a life that one could easily adjust to – that is if wrists were unbroken and strong.  However, that’s not really the point.

I think we all look for that stress-free, quiet space in our lives.  While kayaks and rivers are nice, one can find “bliss” in their own “backyard” so to speak.  It’s nice to be close to nature, but it’s more important to find the “still point” within…

Loved the photo when I saw it on Flickr and enjoyed reading the latest blog. Nice to always be where you want to be. It took me a long time to find my way and I still have my days where I struggle but I am reminded of a great song by Mary Chapin Carpenter called “Don’t Be Late”. Her CD, Time*Sex*Love” is such a gem and I’ve worn the CD out. It should be a pre-requiste of listening to when a woman reaches the so called “later years” of life. Some of the lyrics are as follows….
No one knows where they belong
The search just goes on and on and on
For every choice that ends up wrong
    Another one’s right
A change of scene would sure be great
The thought is nice to contemplate
But the question begs why would you wait
And be late for your life.
These days, I find happiness in the early evening, sitting in my backyard with Chulo on our favorite bench, sipping a glass of wine and watching the birds feed or seeing a full moon rise. It’s such a wonderful “still-point” of bliss that I found in my own backyard. Love the shoes too…Keens are the bomb!

First of all – love your shoes!

Second, I know what you mean about the quiet place. Mine is the top of a green hill looking down at a little village and feeling still connected, but alone and peaceful.
