:-)

It’s that wonderful time of the year.  However, please excuse me if I don’t sound all “cheery and happy.”  Don’t get me wrong – life isn’t horrible.  However, sometimes it’s the “little stuff” that seems to drive you crazy…

I had a quiet Thanksgiving.  I was going to go to a group dinner, but a combination of a “pre-Thanksgiving” task that I had to do and the lingering allergy icky-ness I was drained.  Resting was the right thing to do – I’m much better.  I didn’t even have turkey (which I love) but rationed out a pumpkin pie each morning for breakfast during my break.

In my little part of the United States, we’re finally getting rain.  Actually, some people spotted some little flakes of snow in El Paso.  However, it’s been dark and dreary all day – a foreshadowing of what I hope is not the advent of a nuclear winter.  Along with the rain, I noticed that I have a nice little leak in one of my spare bedrooms.  Not big mind you, so I put a hand towel on the window sill.  It can’t be fixed until the rain stops anyway…

My Delphi XM receiver developed the dreaded “black screen,” and I finally got hold of the warranty department for a replacement.  I M*I*S*S my XM satellite radio.  :-(   I was contemplating buying a 32GB iPod Touch, but recently found that our #*(_^ (insert curse word of your choice) health insurance doesn’t cover many items at 100 percent anymore.  Therefore, I shelled out $112.00 for my bone density scan and another  $50.00 for wrist x-rays.  Oh yeah, and the insurance premium “increased” this year.

Later this afternnoon, I went to get my Subway Buffalo Chicken salad (I want to lose five pounds.) and then I went to a gas station for a soda.  There was a long line and suddenly a guy walks in and places himself about halfway down the line and to the right – kinda like when a lane is closed and the traffic squeezes over.  Guess who he finally cuts in front of in line?

Lord help me I turned to him and said, “You do NOT  think you’re going to cut in front of me and everyone else in this line do you?”  (He had told the clerk what he wanted and put his $5.00 on the counter.)  He mumbled some “not very nice words” and left.  I think if “tar and feathers” had been available this man would have been a candidate.

I’m a nice person.  However, don’t EVER try to take advantage of or humiliate me.  “Challenge” is putting it mildly.

And how was YOUR Monday?  ;-)

Hey old friend, together,
Side by side and year by year.
The road was filled with twists and turns,
Oh, but that’s the road that got us here.

Let’s move past the bad times,
But before those memories fade.
Let’s forgive but not forget,
And learn from the mistakes we made.

‘Cause it’s so clear every year,
We get stronger.
So don’t give up, don’t say when,
And just get back on the road again.

Remember Me?

Rain Drops on Leaf

Dear Blog,

I know you think I’ve deserted you.  However, quite the contrary…  I had to manually update you to the latest version of WordPress, since the “automatic” feature is yet to work.  Also, although it’s a little premature you have a cute new look for the holidays – complete with falling snow.  (You’re welcome!)

Please don’t feel neglected.  I’ve also been ignoring my Digital SLR camera.  Don’t ask me why – it’s just the way that things have been going lately.  I’m trying to balance my personal and work life so I’ll be a more “rounded” individual.  However, there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do everything.

I did buy a new digital camera for hiking, etc…  Please don’t tell Canon that I researched and purchased a Panasonic Lumix ZS3.  It’s so much easier to carry around than a full range of camera equipment that included the camera, lenses, and a tripod.  It was either that or seriously consider buying a pack mule.  However, I think my neighbors would have issues with a mule in my backyard.

Also, I’ve had a nasty little allergy attack with my reactive airway.  I’m much better but I’m not looking forward to the 35 m.p.h. winds this afternoon that will blow up all kinds of crap, stuff, allergens.

Since I’m confessing, I’ve also become somewhat interested in, addicted to playing Scrabble on Facebook.  It’s very relaxing…

Speaking of relaxing, I’m looking forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving break, and also the Christmas holidays.  I’m not sure if I’m going to drive to Borrego Springs for Thanksgiving.  It’s two days driving to, two days there, and two days driving back.  Somehow it doesn’t seem worth the effort.  My friend Debbie and I are cruising the Carnival Splendor for a week beginning on December 20th, and then I’ll spend New Year’s in Yuma.

Time passes so quickly…  I promise to try and be more “attentive.”

Love and kisses, DD  tinyheart
