August Beach Walk
Several years ago, I read a book by Judith Rossner entitled “August.” The book was basically about a young girl and her relationship with her therapist, whose own personal issues were transparent in the novel. The backdrop was Cape Cod, and began my “love affair” with the ocean. For many summers, I would travel to “The Cape” and feel alive in the smells and sounds.
I lived in Indiana then and it was much easier to travel to the Atlantic. Since I live in New Mexico now, I haven’t lost my love for the ocean – it just means that I migrate to the Pacific Coast.
Today was the “perfect” Pacific Northwest day. The temperature hovered around 65 degrees, the sun shone brilliantly, and the wind was almost nonexistent. Cali and I took a two-hour walk along the beach – savoring the last day of August and the culmination of summer. The photos don’t do justice to the beauty of my ocean walk, and the experience afterward made me teary. Sometimes simple pleasures are the best…

Nice set of photos. My fav is Cali and her puppy prints. 65 degrees sounds magical! Btw, that is the anti-spam word for this post.
Funny, that you blog about the end of summer with sadness and I just blogged about the last day with long awaited longing for fall. Maybe if I could escape this dreaded heat here I wouldn’t loathe summer so much. Nonetheless, I’m glad you enjoyed your last day and safe travels back home. See you in November in SF for another fanmenca reunion? I’ve got an extra concert ticket!
