The “Nose Knows”
OK, since I’m in a Starbuck’s in Bend my gentle readers get to glimpse at my personal “medical” issues. I was one of those who has been “blessed” with fair skin, but was never a sun worshipper. However, I will admit I have been lax through the years about applying sunscreen and wearing a hat. (Now, I’m “religious” about sunscreen and hats.)
My dermatologist praises me for noticing the “little red areas” (actinic keratosis). Through the years, I’ve been zapped with liquid nitrogen, had minor “clips and snips,” and photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, I had a resistant area on my nose and my dermatologist prescribed Aldara.
He said I might get a reaction.
I photographed my nose and sent an e-mail to the dermatologist since I’m traveling and won’t have an appointment until mid September. I was told to stop treatment (and hopefully the AK’s are arrested) and let my nose heal after scabbing and peeling like a lizard. (I’m kidding myself if I think I can cover this up with make-up.)
I’m looking forward to an AK free and “normal” nose again. Actually, one of the WIN’s (Peggy) stared at me one day on this trip and told me I have a “perfect” nose.
Uh, not so much at the moment but check back in a couple of weeks…

Hi Cheryl,
Pushing your nose aside, I wanted to check and see why you’re not seeing your blog on my D’roll.
Good luck, and I hope to see your non-reactive nose back soon.

The Oregon coast is a beautiful experience, though don’t miss the Columbia Outlet Store before you leave Bend! We followed the coast from Florence, OR to Ocean Shores, WA, then on to Port Townsend…a must if you’re in the area.
