Calamity Jane (Cali)…
Apparently, going to the groomer is tiring as Cali came home and ate and is now “sawing logs.”
My precious girl, Calamity Jane, “Cali” went to the groomer’s today. She was so SHAGGY, but when you’re traveling it’s difficult to get a grooming appointment within a week’s time. She looks beautiful, but was too feisty to let me get a good photo of her post grooming. She’s decked out in one of the two homemade “bandanas” that I bought for her at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. ($2.95/each!)
As you know in a previous post, we had a “brush with fate” in Winnemucca, Nevada but her injuries have healed and she’s back to her bouncy, normal self. I sometimes fear that “I love her too much” as I fret over her well-being from time-to-time constantly. In my “heart of hearts” I know that she loves me. Today, she recognized the sound of my car to pick her up at the groomers and started barking.
When she was being evaluated in Winnemucca at the Animal Hospital, I checked out a chart and found that we are the “same age.” (60) The chart was detailed and outlined a dog’s life in human years by the age and weight of the dog. Cali is 29 pounds and will be 11 next month…
As for me, I did indulge in a deep conditioning treatment and a paraffin pedicure at the local beauty college. My toes are painted a beautiful shimmering gold!
I have to be honest and say that although in many ways I like being at home, I miss the road. However, I plan to “stay put” until the end of November to travel to have Thanksgiving in Borrego Springs, CA with the WIN’s OR to go to the LOW encampment at Slab City, CA and spend some time there. I’m “leaning” toward the SLABS since I’ve never been there and am somewhat curious…
Tonight I plan to go to a ballroom dance. (Yes, I’m “quite the dancer.”) It’s a little sad, since the “Big Band Dance” group in Las Cruces had a weekly dance with a live orchestra at the local country club. Now the country club is closed, and the dance is held on alternate weeks with “canned” music. Geez, I hope someone asks me to dance…

It’s so nice to be back in touch with everyone after weeks of intermittent internet! I see you’re back “home” and I’m very jealous of your spa treatment. Plan to find one here in St. George, UT as soon as I get caught up with my blog! And you have a treat in store for Thanksgiving in Anza Borrego; one of our favorite winter places. Lynda
