I’m on Vacation!
Actually, I could have been on vacation starting at noon yesterday but I helped my now former supervisor move into her new office. She stepped down from her position due to health reasons. It’s quite a story that I should probably do in a protected post when I have a little more time.
Later in the afternoon, (after I forgot to drop off my drycleaning for the cruise)
I took the plunge and went to get some gel nails at a place called “Spatini”. No filing down your “real nails” with a drill, no acid smell, and they are amazingly lightweight. Now before I horrify members of a “certain church,” I just got basic, short, French manicured nails. I think I may do this again since your “real” nails grow out under the gel and are protected.
The fun part is that the nail tech was sitting telling me of her “drama.” It appeared that her son’s girlfriend was getting her hair cut (within earshot) and was trashing her boyfriend. (The nail tech’s son.) Some people never cease to amaze me…

The Week That Almost Was…
Tomorrow is a half day since the students in the school district have an early release. Nevertheless, it’s been a busy week with soothing “ruffled feathers,” ordering equipment, attending I.E.P.’s, noting changes, etc…
I consider myself a Christian, but somehow got myself “cornered” today into an hour long discussion by an apostolic “believer.” I won’t go into details, but “Bible banging, being a “soldier for Christ,” and speaking in “tongues” are not places that mainstream Episcopalians go. In all fairness I have to say, “Whatever works for you, do it.” Many paths - one God. Amen. Many things in my life are personal, and my relationship with God is one of them.
The big LCPS “holiday luncheon” was today and we feasted on brisket (something that I didn’t even know existed until I moved to New Mexico) beans, potato salad, rolls, an assortment of homemade salads, and of course the necessary pecan (pee-can) pie! What can I say? The luncheon was an over-the-top cholesterol fest.
There were other issues today (the resignation and reassignment) of my supervisor for health reasons. There are so many mixed emotions involved that I can’t (and won’t) talk about them here. The positive spin is that she can now be my friend instead of my “boss.”
Tomorrow I have an appointment for cruise (gel) nails. I like short nails, but mine are painfully ugly at the moment. Besides, I can use some pampering! Speaking of pampering, I e-mailed the Hotel Krystal in Puerto Vallarta to try to book an appointment for a 90-minute massage on the beach. Hey, it’s only money - right? Then again, speaking of money I bought some Bose speakers tonight that I can hook up to my MP-3 player for tunes on the cruise. After the cruise, there’s another adapter that I can use to hook them up to my laptop.
Laissez les bons rouler!
