It’s official - I’ve posted to my weblog everyday during November. I can say that is was a good exercise in discipline to help me pay attention to my “writing duties” on a daily basis.

Since I’ve never ever participated - I think today might be a good day to start “Friday Fill-Ins,” so here goes!

Friday Fill-Ins is hosted by Janet

  1. When my blog is broken, it drives me crazy until I can figure out the problem.
  2. I saw the most amazing fiber-optic Christmas bear figure this morning!
  3. Into the Wild is the new movie I’m most looking forward to seeing.
  4. Work: Necessary and stressful.
  5. Of all the new tv shows, I enjoy Samantha Who? the most.
  6. If only I were independently wealthy.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a steak dinner, tomorrow my plans include putting up my Christmas decorations and Sunday, I want to go to the “Noche de Luminarias” at NMSU and take photographs!

HAL_Oosterdam

One month from today I’ll be boarding the Oosterdam in San Diego with my friend Mavis for a cruise on the Mexican Riviera. We’re waiting for our cabin assignment since we booked a guarantee. (Maybe the “upgrade fairy” will be good to us.) It’s official, I’m not going shopping to look for any more “cruise clothes” - I have plenty. Needless to say, I can’t wait!

No Nutcracker?

It seems that someone (or a group of someones) wanted to put a damper on the holiday decoration of a Nutcracker at Glenn Cutter Jewelers in Las Cruces. Apparently on Thanksgiving weekend, the ten foot tall, three hundred pound Nutcracker was reported missing.

Earlier in the week the following was reported:

Police report that a woman had come into the store on November 21st, and expressed concerns that the Nutcracker was a military figure. She asked to speak to the store manager and told him that it was inappropriate to have a soldier on his sign with the Iraq war ongoing.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m very sympathetic to the war and proud of our soldiers.  However, a Nutcracker is “quite a stretch” don’t ‘cha think?  I heard on the radio the other day where an organization was selling pins that said:  “You can tell me Merry Christmas!”  Yikes!  Some people just need to “get a life” - preferably somewhere else…

It seems like the days of autumn have flown by so quickly. I’m not quite ready for the “holiday season” yet, so I think I’ll enjoy these wonderful golden days…

Manic Monday is hosted by Fleur-de-Lisa

Which personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble?

  • Curiosity - hands down. Sorry, no details…

If you had to gain 10 pounds what would you eat to gain the weight?

  • I remember being really thin as a child and my parents giving me half-and-half to drink occasionally - I hated it.

How is your private self different from your public self?

  • Actually, it’s not much different. However, I’m really somewhat of an idealist and reflect on things more than I probably should.
